About Us
Jon Quixote

I first manifested as Jon Quixote in the Spring of 1993 when Jon Roe was preparing to leave his job at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He began work on The Door Opener seven years earlier and jumped at the opportunity to take early retirement.

The start of a new career was a time to reflect on what brought him to this place, where he was going, what he wanted to do, and who he was. Jon had long been attracted to the Quixote image through the book, the ‘Man of La Mancha’ play and movie, and its song ‘The Quest’, better know as ‘The Impossible Dream.’ He realized that Quixote represented a part of him that was romantic and idealistic, wanting to do bold and noble things that would save the world. But Jon was too conservative to take this kind of risk, and so I, Quixote am turned loose on the world from time to time to fight with windmills, champion risky causes, jump into anything that looks interesting and otherwise do the things that Jon Roe might be uncomfortable doing.

Jon has ignored me the last few years as he made magazines and worked with holistic health groups; but I knew a time would come when he’d get a little bored and need a new adventure. Now he’s let me loose again and is happy to see me take the lead as he’s not sure he wants to stick his neck out on this new venture. But I’m just glad to be back in the saddle and things will fall where they will. Win or lose it’s an adventure and isn’t that what we’re here for.

Sancho Panza aka Jon Roe

Sancho represents Jon’s left brain conservative side. He’s Virgo sun with Pisces rising and moon in Aries which seems to completely describe him. Analytical by nature he was an engineer at Pratt & Whitney for 32 years; always organized and in control. The Pisces brought in his spiritual interest although it wasn’t until well into his thirties that he recognized it. And the moon in Aries indicates a stubborn streak that helps him stick to things and not be easily swayed.

Sancho gets things done, but he is intrigued by Quixote, following him on his quests because it does make life so much more interesting. When Quixote falls or messes up Sancho is there to pick him up and get him back in the saddle. And Sancho does the dirty work of lists, writing and programming, but that’s where he is more comfortable.

Rocinante

Rocinante is Quixote’s steed that carries him on his adventures. For 18 years this was The Door Opener, the steed that made the adventures possible. This noble creature is now in the hands of the very capable Lady Dory. Rocinante for our new quest are the websites we’ll be creating together. What adventures they’ll carry us to only time will tell.

Dulcinea

Ah the fair lady Dulcinea, the vision that drives us; so pure, so perfect that we will reach for unreachable stars. We all share the dream of what this earth could be, a heaven on earth, a world at peace with equal opportunities for all. That’s the vision that drives Quixote.

Quests and Adventures We Have Shared

The Celebration of Life (1984-1986) - Long Memorial Day weekends of workshops, classes and entertainment organized by Bev Titus and friends that opened our eyes to the possible and showed us how we could give back and get involved.

The Door Opener (1986-2005) - It was our honor to be midwife to the birth and guardian to the growth of Connecticut’s networking resource.

The New Age Guild of Connecticut (1989-1999) - Created with Bev Titus and Pam Bell this was a community that brought together metaphysical people from throughout the state for programs (remember the Panel of Channels) and sharing. We met the most amazing people there.

The Connection For Health Network (1993-2002) - One of the first holistic practitioner groups in the state, this New Haven group was a model for all that followed.

Connecticut Health Institute (CHI) (1993-1994) - Organization who’s goal was to help integrate new healing modalities into conventional medicine.

Greater Hartford/Connecticut Holistic Health Association (1994-2005) - Hartford practitioner organization that expanded to a state organization.
